I Issue 11R VALLEY TOWNSHIP BOARD TO MEET The Valley Township board will meet in executive session at The Ponderosa tonight at 7pm. As a result, Holabird Advocate Publisher and private citizen, Jerry Hinkle will not be allowed to be present. Mary Hinkle is not on the board, but is serving lunch, so she will be allowed. Mary has said that it is no big deal and that at least the board has refrained from telling dirty jokes and other off color talk since Peg Zilverberg was made Treasurer. COLD SNAP HITS HOLABIRD Single digit temps were reported as the Holabird Metropolitan area braced itself for winter. It is expected to warm up gradually until Friday with a chance for snow showers Saturday and Sunday, just in time for the Snow Queen pagent on December 1st. POETRY CORNER This poem was submitted by Mrs. Lynette Goehring of Yankton, S.D. The author, however, is unknown to her. GIVING THANKS For the hay and the corn and the wheat that is reaped, For the labor well done, and the barns that are heaped, For the sun and the dew and the sweet honeycomb, For the rose and the song and the harvest brought home -- Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving! For the trade and the skill and the wealth in our land, For the cunning and strength of the workingman's hand, For the good that our artists and poets have taught, For the friendship that hope and affection have brought -- Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving! For the homes that with purest affection are blest, For the season of plenty and well-deserved rest, For our country extending from sea unto sea; The land that is known as the "Land of the Free" -- Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving! ~Author Unknown~
