FESTIVE Y1C WINDS DOWN
The flood of family and friends that came upon the Ponderosa for Y1C has all but tried up now . There were an estimated 285 guest including 62 reletives from all over the world. All of E.E. Hinkle's children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were in attendance at one time. among the honored gusts were E.E.'s brother Don Hinkle was there with his wife Larayne, his sons Jauhn and Donnie, daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Erin, grandaughter Jianni, and daughter and son-in-law Theresa and Ivan Berwager. Ellene Farley, E.E.'s niece, came with her husband Russ. Ed Wallis, a nephew of E.E.'s, came with his wife Donna, son Jason, Daughter Laura, and four grandchildren, one of which, Jared wants to come over next year. A special guest at the Ponderosa was E.E.'s 90 years young cousin Ralph Meyers and son Nick.
At the Senior Center in Highmore Cletus M. Spangler, a distant relative that nobody talks about much, made a surprise visit. Also in the surprise category was Marion Maginnis who made a special trip to pay his due respect to his brother-in law E.E. It was at the very warm Senior Center that a short program was presented to and for E.E. among the presentations were a 100 year old bottle of Korean shu chi, Korean art, pieces, and a jar of 100 pennies. July 22nd was also named Emory Hinkle Day by the Govenor of South Dakota.That evening all who were able to went back to the Ponderosa for an arial photograph.
Early Sunday morning there was a severe storm warning for the area. High winds blew,shaking the motor homes and campers parked outside everyone gathered into E.E.'s house and stayed there until after he asked them to get out. After everyone caught up on their sleep they made their way to church, several of them being late. After church they made their way to the Thunderbird Steak House where E.E. was presented with a picture of Himself beside a new John Deere tractor with a prayer enclosed on it. Ellene Farley gave a testimony to the assembled group about the dinner table in Heaven and all the family members waiting for them there. A half inch rain was recieved with greatful hearts all the way around.
The actual birthday for E.E. was Monday he asked for and got ice cream and cake for breakfast. John Zilverberg stopped by for a visit and several calls for E.E. of congratulations were made.Henry Single called on the old boy as well.
HAROLD AND MARY HINKLE GO "DOWN UNDER"

It will be a long voyage, but Harold and Mary Hinkle have started on there trip to the other side of the world. At press time they were waiting for boarding at the Minneapolis airport. Departure time is scheduled to be 2:45 CDT. If all goes as planned, they will be in Sydney, Austrailia at 6:10 am Friday morning local time (not CDT)
