Holabird AdvocateProviding all the news we see fit to print since 2002!Monday, July 08, 2002 VOL. I Issue 7D "A GOOD LAND" TO TAKE TO THE STAGE The production of "A Good Land", the play written and directed by Holabird's own Barbara Nemec has hit qite a few snages in the last 8 months. Rehersals are now planned to resume at 8pm. Monday evening at the Hyde County Memorial Auditorium .The Aud was to be out of commision for 3 weeks when maintenance on the wood floor would take place. Last week, The roof caved in under unknown circumstances. Apparently the stage area was uneffected. "Our actors need to get there blocking down" said director Nemec at rehersal two weeks ago. The latest snags have not damaged the spirit of the cast and crew, in fact it has made them determined to go on with the show. ON THE ROAD AGAIN by Hiram Gonagan In my previous column, I reported that Harold and Mary Hinkle of Holabird were going to Dryland Aquatics water park. They were scheduled to have a 2 hour tour that took 3 hours (shades of Gilligan's Island abound). Along with them were Mike and Betty McDonnell; Larry and Bonnie Nickleson; Andrew and Tracy Lennick; and Eric Volek instead of Tom Gravatt as previously reported .It appears the the assemled company may become repeat customers.Dryland Aquatics charged the group a modest $18 each for this outing DEADWOOD AREA FIRE CONTAINED On Sunday evening word came that Deadwood's Grizzly Gulch fire that has charred 10,700 acres is finally 100% contained. The fire is still burning but contained.
