I Issue 2E WINTER WEATHER RETURNS TO HOLABIRD Saturday morning was snowing and blowing enough that attendance was down at the Farm and Home Show at the Hyde County Auditorium in Highmore. The show was closed down at 2:30.The weather cleared up at about 3 o'clock. BRITTANY HINKLE A BIG HIT AT CHURCH SERVICES Children's time at the Methodist Church has been getting more attention than the sermon lately. The reason is Britany Hinkle,an almost 5 year old bundle of dynamite.Last Sunday she and 8 month old Dylan McDonell were the only children present at the service.Pastor Phil gave the invitation for the children to come up,then mentioned that Dylan was too little to come up himself. At that point Brit took it upon herself to go to his parents and see if she could take him up with her.the whole congregation just thought it was lovely.she brpught him up and Pastor Phil said that she did what he wished everyone in the congragation would to,that being when he gave the call that people not only excepted, but brought a friend.Isn't it written somewhere"A little child shall lead them."? This week Brit wanted to share Valentine candy with Pastor Phil before the service started. Her grandparents are well pleased that she is so good at children's time. They just wish she'd behave during the rest of the service. HAROLD AND MARY HINKLE OUT ON THE TOWN Ken and Renee Kirby invited Harold and Mary to a Friendship Banquet in Gettysburg on Sunday evening. They tried to use all the old excuses, such as the weather and even "taking care of Emory", to no avail. The weather turned nice and Jerry stayed behind with his Grandad. They went and caught up with these old friends and neighbors. The entertainment included a comic from Stassburg,North Dakota named "Milo". E.E. HINKLE SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT Sunday morning E.E. Hinkle skipped church in Highmore, but watched 3 hours of church programing on television. At dinner time he got tired of waiting and made himself a sandwich and then ate dinner. He stayed up until 8:30 that evening, went to bed and then to sleep around 10:30.The usually nocturnal 99 year old didn't get up until the next morning.E.E.'s father Ed was famous for saying"Once a man, twice a baby",so nobody feels bad that he slept through the night.
