So Long Homer

It's been reported that Mitchell had 9.6 inches of snow dumped on it over the last day and a half. Both the city and some private citizens are busy removing the white stuff from streets, parking lots, driveways and sidewalks. Some were worried about power failures with the high winds blowing power lines about, and it has happened in some areas, but Kornfield County made it through. All things considered, we are in better shape than those poor souls who had to contend with Nemo and Orka!

Betty Phillips Dies

Word was recieved yesterday that Betty Phillips, a good friend of our Publisher's took sick and was moved to a nursing home in Lake Norden, where she died last week. Betty was a really sweet lady, and a tirless willing worker. Her kind compasionate heart and sense of humor will be missed by all of those left behind.
One story that will be a part of her legacy is that a man once called her "Mrs. Phillips" and she instisted that he call her Betty. When he said that he was using mrs. Phillips as a term of respect, she said, "You can respect me by calling me Betty".That's just what he did!
