VOL. IV Issue 2P
Valley Township to "Stick it Out"
Despite what we have heard previously, Valley Township may wait for at least another year before disorganized. New laws may make it necessary to have both the Clerk and Treasurer bonded. Valley is exploring the possibility of combining both offices. This and many other options are being looked into. More details will be available after the Annual Township Meeting at the Ponderosa tomorrow.
Spring Break Refreshes Hinkles
Harold And Mary Hinkle came back from their Spring Break vacation ready for work. Everyone in their group managed to keep out of trouble (or at least jail). Harry and Dianne Macek were unable to go because Harry got took with the flu (Get well quick, Harry!). Among those who did make it were Mr. And Mr. Wilbur Goehring, Mr. And Mrs. Sam Wurtz, Mr. And Mrs. Ed Arsheim, Mr. And Mrs. Chad Arsheim, Agnes Hahn, and the organizers of this little get together, Professor and Mrs. Ken Hansen. Harold Hinkle reports that Ed and Sharon Arshiem's daughter Laurie is expecting their first grandchild. All of us at the Holabird Advocate are predicting that the kid will not be as cute as it could have been, but that's the way it worked out. Not that anyone is complaining.
Jerry Hinkle reaped a benefit from the get-away as well. His mother found a 3 hour, 4 episode DVD of "Bonanza" and bought it for him.
The group had so much fun that they are thinking of doing it again in Brookings next year. Maybe the can get E.E. Hinkle to go along with them to his old home town. A lot has changed since 1928.
Publishers Notes
by Jerry Hinkle
Another month has come and gone. Our 38th month together. I didn't get everything done that I wanted to do, but I have done more than I thought I'd do at that. Getting published in South Dakota Magazine Road Stories not once, but twice, has lead to big things. Being part of South Dakota 123 has also been a wonderful experience, and one I intend to relish for a long time to come. It is a good site to visit, and I encourage all to do so by going to the Free-For-All Links page at the bottom of the Holabird Advocate Front Page.
I was impressed that Chris Rock ended the Oscar Show only 45 minutes late. That might not be a record, but still impressive. He still isn't as good a Oscar host as David Letterman, but one can't have it all.
Bill Janklow made the news this past month. For next month's poll, I'd like to see just how Janklow would do politically after his probation period ends. It should not shock anyone that an overwhelming majority think Michael Jackson is guilty according to our poll this past month. We'll have to see how the real jury goes.
That's all for this month. See ya in March!
