E.E. Hinkle Says "More Ovaltine Please"
Every morning for breakfast, 102 year old E.E. Hinkle drinks Ovaltine hot. This has been a recent development, but he's really taking to it. This is a man who genuinely hates chocolate. This morning the worst possible thing that could happen to a man his age did happen. The Ovaltine can was empty. E.E.'s Grandson, Jerry Hinkle, was on his own here. Jerry looked all over the Ponderosa until he found another can. Had he not found any, he would have had to go to Highmore and buy some. That's about an hour trip there and back, not to mention the price of ethanol up to $1.94.
Ordinarily, he could have asked his mother, Mary Hinkle, where the darn stuff was, but she and husband Harold Hinkle were off to Watertown to buy an original Redlin. He expected them to be gone for a few days. After all, they went with Roger and Linda Wurts, so he figured they'd at least go to the casino. Harold and Mary came back at 5:30 this afternoon.
Kristi Hinkle Dog sits For Mother
Ruby Hoffman arranged for her daughter, Kristi Hinkle to watch her dog, Jill while she and husband, Jim Hoffman go away for a spell. Jim and Ruby left for Beaumont, Texas to see former Holabird residents, Bob and Barbara Taylor. They were informed that Barb had a stroke and is paralyzed on her left side. She has someone cleaning her house and wants to have visitors while it is clean.
California Student Sees Speech Double-Standard
by Jim Brown, of the Agape Press
A Kuwaiti Arab Muslim student is speaking out after his community college approved an article indirectly comparing him to Adolph Hitler. Last semester, Foothill College political science professor Joseph Woolcock flunked Ahmad Al Qloushi and ordered him to get psychological treatment because he wrote a pro-American essay as his take-home final exam. Standing his ground on the essay, Al Qloushi explained that if it were not for U.S. intervention into Kuwait when he was younger, he would not have had the opportunity for furthering his education. Woolcock filed a school grievance against Al Qloushi, charging him with intimidation and harassment for mentioning his name to the media. Now comes word that the Foothill College Student Activities Office has approved an article that labels Al Qloushi "irrational" and accuses him of endangering Woolcock. The 17-year-old freshman says he cannot understand why the school would allow a "terrible personal attack" on him. "I just don't understand why they would approve something which personally attacks me and compares me to one of the most evil dictators on the face of the earth," the student says. Al Qloushi happens to be chairman of the campus group Foothill College Republicans. Administrators have told that group it is not allowed to include the school's name in a press release regarding its chairman.
