IV Issue 2D Where Did the Snow Come From Monday morning many in the Holabird area woke up to 1-3 inches of snow. Just a few short days ago it was 63 degrees outside. This puts a cork in those who are worried about global warming, for a while anyway. Chicken soup was the order of the day at the Ponderosa kitchen as temperatures got close to 0. It will get slightly warmer as the week goes on. Tragedy Hits Goehring Family It is a time of sadness for the entire Goehring family as their beloved pet, Mingie, the Chinese Pug, She was 15 (that's 105 to you and I according to Lorne Greene). She was not in the best of health, and it was with heavy hearts that Wilbur and Lynette Goehring of Yankton had Ming put down. Still it was a difficult cup to drink for them. All of us here at the Holabird Advocate hold out to them our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. You both will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult mourning period. Hinkle Girls Get Checked Out Darrel and Kristi Hinkle took their daughters to Sioux Falls to get their IC checkups. Shelby, the 4 year old got a clean bill of health, while 7 year old Brittany got an adjustment in her medication. Brit is still not allowed to eat acidic foods, chocolate among them. The doctors want to treat her for depression. All of us at the Holabird Advocate say, "Of course she's depressed! She can't eat chocolate! We'd be depressed too!" After the check up, Brit and Shelby got to Highmore in time to join their dance group to provide half-time entertainment (no wardrobe malfunction there one hopes) at the basketball game.
